A profile takes reflection, and mine changes sometimes. See my old one and pix at Red77.stumbleupon.com - For THIS profile, I will simply state a wish. I have looked deep into the mirror of self, and asked for a new environment. The mirror spoke back, saying until that time comes, I must find happiness & purpose within self. I'm "stuck in Kentucky" on purpose (decades ago) but it's time to move on. I want to emigrate/move somewhere else -warm. It'll take a miracle right now (midlife) but I'll keep dreaming. Mirrors are odd -you never know what you'll find in them. When is the last time YOU looked that deep? The personality test labeled me EFNP-Journalist, with uncanny sense of the motivations of others. That's true I guess. I'm empathetic, an idealist-learning-to-be-realist, I love cats, movies, music, writing, sweets, metaphysics, my PC, health's a hobby & I'm open-minded. I'm just in a rut at the moment, exploring what I want to do with the rest of my life. But who isn't.

Subtitle: Part of Lyrica money to help fund research -
I liked this little article about the University and professor that created a popular painkiller, for just one reason. It explains how partial rights and royalties can help fund universities & research for all kinds of medicines to help all kinds of illnesses.
MY opinion?...Well, personally speaking, I have mixed emotions about Pharmaceutical companies and the business they're in, particularly their marketing practices on TV and coercing doctors. The latter is akin to Washington lobbyists influencing how our US congress makes desicions. Educating politicians -or in this case, doctors about medicines - is just wrong in my opinion if a Pharmaceutical company is sponsoring it. I also often wonder about the relationship between the FDA and these companies...and it makes me mad that poor people with illnesses like HIV are denied access to medicines, all in the name of profits and brandnames or patents.
On the other hand, this little article shows how only PARTIALLY giving up rights to a drug company actually helped one university build up their research facility, which could help countless sick people someday.
Profits & greed verses Good deeds and human compassion.
Quite the balancing act in today's world if you ask me.

Another very good article for Fibromyalgia people, especially when having a bad day, when there's no one to talk to and you really need someone.
This article has alot of good, simple practical steps to help a person feel better, even when they're all alone.

A WONDERFUL article for nervous Fibromyalgic people like me (I'm old-fashioned...and so nervous about meeting people online that I don't look at message boards & I avoid chatrooms).
I liked this article alot because it gives practical steps and many ideas on how to gradually find help and support by making friends through your computer or in local support groups.
This article encouraged me enough to maybe try it now.

I really liked this section of the New York Times (talking about Fibromyalgia) because it includes well-written and educated responses (via letters to the Editor) from various people, including doctors and professors. I (katscan on SU) have this illness, which is precisely why I am so interested in it & any new research that may lead to finding a cure, so that life may be enjoyed more fully, like it used to be.
